Watauga County Farmers' Market

Saturday Novermber 27 from 10 - 2

You can expect plenty of gift ideas and winter greenery this weekend.Trees and Snow

The folks at Watauga County Farmers' Market are ready for the holidays with a special holiday market on the Saturdays before and after Thanksgiving. The hours will be from 10am to 2pm at the usual location, the Horn in the West parking lot. There was plenty of selections left right up until the 2:00 closing time last Saturday including vegetables, so don't be afraid to stop by after lunch.

Jeff and Will Thomas of Creeksong Farm will have grass feed beef, we will have ground beef, beef for stew, sirloin tips, tenderized, and steaks. Alan Souther will be bringing beef, turnips, pie pumpkins and carnival squash. Sue Thomas will have creasy greens, spinach, collards, kale, mustard, turnip greens and lettuce.

Pasta Wench has gift baskets of dried pasta, and pierogies and ravioli for the holidays. Harmony Acres will have great stocking stuffers, such as lip balm, handmade soap, and we have a great kitchen liquid soap, great for deodorizing. Rebecca at Back Yard Bakery will offer hot country ham biscuits, a selection of holiday cookies, great fruit and nut cakes and holiday toffees in almond, pecan and peanut flavors.

Caron of Wishful ThinkingStudio will have plenty of her 2010 angel "Gloria" as well as loads of other pottery gifts and lavender. Sheila Eldreth will have holiday candles and soaps that will be perfect for gifts and stocking stuffers in all your favorite holiday scents. The Pasta Wench will be offering gift certificates and gift baskets for holiday giving.

Pattie Kremer will be bringing winter greenery including wreaths, swags, kissing balls, garland, and some bitter sweet too. You can not get greenery this fresh in stores, you have to buy it direct. She also has the world's largest pinecones for striking winter decor.

The market is having great success on EBT acceptance, you can call 1-828-355-4918 for more information on using EBT at the market.

Find us at the Horn in the West in Boone, turn next to First Citizens Bank on Highway 105 Extension and go to the top of the hill. Call WCFM manager Karen Bauman at 1-828-355-4918 for more information. We will be there rain or shine!

Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center

Meetings and functions of the Watauga County Farmers' Market are often held at the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center. The map to the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center may be of help. This indicates the actual entrance to the Conference Center off Poplar Grove Road, not the main entrance to the Cooperative Extension Office on King Street.
