Saturday Morning October 29

The Art Of Working In Clay

This Saturday October 29 will be the last regular market of the 2011 season. We will still have 2 holiday markets on the Saturdays before and after Thanksgiving and there will be plenty of local gift giving ideas. There is still plenty of late seasom produce available this week so get the good stuff now.

Mountain Memories Farm will have Rack of Lamb 20% off and Whole Chicken 10% off. There is also end of season sign up for winter delivery every Thursday, just order and pick up at the Horn parking lot. Stock up this Saturday on Faith Mountain Farm granola, bread, and honey for the winter. Shady Grove Garden will have sweet Italian peppers, dried grasses and grains, fresh flowers, preserved blue pink and green hydrangeas and lavender sachets fresh from the garden.

Caron Baker-Wike and Jim Wike

Vendor of the week: Caron Baker-Wike and Jim Wike
Caron Baker-Wike makes one of a kind pottery pieces using original designs.

Ripshin Goat Dairy will have a fresh batch of goat milk feta cheese this Saturday, October 23, AND will return with our chocolate goat cheese truffles for the Thanksgiving holiday markets... some with dried sour cherries and some with black walnuts, too. Fire From The Mountain will have assorted lettuces, pumpkins, butternut and spagetti squash, parsley and of course Salsa, Hot Sauces and BBQ Sauce.

Zydeco Moon will have USDA certified organic satsumas from Louisiana, broccoli, red lettuce mix, turnips, braising mix (kale, chard and mustard), iceberg lettuce.

Outstanding Diet Food

The Saturday market will continue through the end of October as usual. The holiday markets will be on November 19 and 26, the Saturdays before and after Thanksgiving, from 10 - 2. We appreciate the support the community has given these market days and know you will find something special to brighten your holidays.

The market is having great success on EBT acceptance, you can call 1-828-355-4918 for more information on using EBT at the market. Find us at the Horn in the West in Boone on Saturday mornings, turn next to First Citizens Bank on Highway 105 Extension and go to the top of the hill. Call WCFM manager Karen Bauman at 1-828-355-4918 or visit our website at http://wcfm.info for more information. We will be there rain or shine!

Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center

Meetings and functions of the Watauga County Farmers' Market are often held at the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center. The map to the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center may be of help. This indicates the actual entrance to the Conference Center off Poplar Grove Road, not the main entrance to the Cooperative Extension Office on King Street.
