Watauga County Farmers' Market

Saturday Morning September 17

Oyster Mushrooms

The selection of produce at Watauga County Farmers' Market is always high at this time of the year. Apples, pears, sweet corn can all be spotted next to the new crops of pumpkins and winter squash. This Saturday The Produce Pickers will be at the market to help us celebrate the harvest. They are one of our all time favorite bands and always put on a show you do not want to miss.

This weekend Blue Ridge Apiaries will continue to offer sourwood, wildflower, creamed, and infused honeys. Zydeco Moon Organic Farm will have a new crop of broccoli, juicy red raspberries, heirloom tomatoes, snow peas, delicata, acorn and butternut squash.

New this week at Faith Mountain Farm is butternut and spaghetti squash, pie pumpkins, and unusual gourds for fall decorating. Chocolate cashew butter is new from the kitchen and goes great on one of our whole grain breads. Sunflowers and zinnias continue to dazzle. In the honey department, we now have comb honey to add to the sourwood and spring honey.

Harmony Acres now has amazing liquid soap along with 5 varieties of sweet potatoes, including the rare white Nancy Halls. The Harmony Kids will once again have the watermelon lemonade, which was a huge hit this past Saturday.

Billy Ward

Vendor of the week: Billy Ward
Gentleman; Folk toy, Bird House and Feeder Maker; Planter Box and Rustic Furniture Crafter Billy Ward delights us all with his clever toys and inventive wooden creations.

5 Varieties of Sweet Potatoes

Caron from Wishful Thinking Studio will be returning from her show in D.C. with a whole lot of new pottery including leaf bowls, lace bowls, bunnies, face jugs, lavender and all of your favorites.

Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center

Meetings and functions of the Watauga County Farmers' Market are often held at the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center. The map to the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center may be of help. This indicates the actual entrance to the Conference Center off Poplar Grove Road, not the main entrance to the Cooperative Extension Office on King Street.
